“We felt like royalty!”Carol & David Castle

Carol and David wanted to bring two interests together: their Scottish ancestry and the world of Outlander. They booked close to their departure date, with a clear idea of the experience they hoped for.

Two interests, one journey

Carol and David wanted Scottish ancestry and Outlander to sit naturally within the same holiday. We planned six nights beginning and ending in Edinburgh, linking castles and battlefields with filming locations and quieter places where they could explore their family connections.

History with a family connection

The route brought Stirling Castle and Bannockburn into the journey, with Carol’s interest in Bruce heritage giving those places particular meaning. In their review, Carol and David also described conversations about King James IV and their own family connection to him. We helped the history feel personal, rather than something happening at a distance.

From the Highlands to Lallybroch

Their plan continued through Loch Ness, Culloden and Clava Cairns, then south through Highland places including the Folk Museum and the Hermitage. Fife’s villages and Midhope Castle brought the Outlander thread back into focus. It was a route designed around both their family story and the stories they loved on screen.

The end of each day

The places they stayed mattered as much as the places they visited. Carol and David singled out their Highland accommodation and the food, describing the stays as magical. Their simplest verdict was also their most enthusiastic: “We felt like royalty!”

“Even though we booked close to our travel date, Scottish Luxury Experience hit it out of the park! We wanted to combine our Scottish family history with an Outlander adventure, and they brought those interests together beautifully.

They planned a journey through Edinburgh, Stirling and the Highlands, connecting our interest in ancestry with castles, historic places and Outlander locations. Their knowledge of Scotland’s history and stories brought our dream trip to life. They helped us feel connected to our ancestors and understand the places beyond what we could have seen on our own.

Every night in the Highlands we stayed in magical places, and the food was exceptional. We felt like royalty! We would highly recommend Scottish Luxury Experience. It was a beautiful experience we shall never forget, and they met the expectations of the Scottish journey we had hoped for.”
