Her mum’s first visit to Scotland. A wish for sweeping Highland views. And the small, thoughtful touches that stayed with them long after the journey.

Allyson shares how it came together, from her first conversation with us to the surprise photo album waiting at their hotel.

Allyson had a clear picture of the Scotland she wanted to see. A Harry Potter fan, she was drawn to the Highlands and their wide, cinematic landscapes. Her mum was coming too, on her first visit to Scotland.

Three ideas, shaped around her time

Allyson first got in touch after seeing an Instagram advert. She wondered whether we could create the shorter trip she had in mind. We replied within 24 hours and presented three options after the call. The presentation explored western scenery around the Trossachs and Loch Lomond, a Perthshire route around Loch Tay and Dunkeld, and a longer Highland option. These were alternatives to choose between, rather than a list of places to fit into one day.

A first visit to share with Mum

Her mum was visiting Scotland for the first time. Allyson wanted broad Highland views, room to take photographs and time to enjoy being there together. Her own love of Harry Potter was part of the inspiration, but the point was the landscape and the feeling of the journey, rather than collecting filming locations.

The smaller stops mattered, too

One of Allyson’s strongest memories was a quiet stop at an old bridge with her mum: the peace, the stillness and even the fragrance of the place. We also turned their airport transfer into an introduction to Edinburgh, helping them find their bearings for walks, restaurants and exploring on their own.

Something to bring home

A thoughtful welcome gift helped set the tone. The next day, a photo album was waiting at their hotel. We had captured photographs throughout the journey; Allyson had not known an album was coming. She planned to take it to the family’s lake house at Christmas so everyone could share the memories of her mum’s first visit. By the end, she said it felt as though they had friends and family in Scotland.

“I found Scottish Luxury Experience through Instagram and reached out with a vision of what I wanted to see. They got back to me within 24 hours. After our call, they presented three options that felt like my dream Scottish experience. I wanted sweeping vistas, and they put together a Highland itinerary that fitted the time we had perfectly.

I travelled with my mum, on her first visit to Scotland. We wanted to enjoy the scenery and have time together, without trying to fit everything into one trip. Scottish Luxury Experience turned our airport transfer into an introduction to Edinburgh, helping us get our bearings for the days we would explore on our own.

There were thoughtful touches throughout, and a quiet, peaceful stop at an old bridge that I still remember. We really made core memories. The next day, a beautiful photo album was waiting at our hotel. They had captured the photographs without us even knowing an album was coming. I wanted to take it to our family gathering at Christmas so everyone could share those memories.

It was such a personal, memorable surprise. Scottish Luxury Experience didn’t simply take us on a tour and check off boxes. By the end, it felt like we had friends and family in Scotland.”
