The Highlands

Highland Perthshire, sitting at the southern edge of this vast area, provides one of the most accessible introductions, with rugged hills, rushing rivers, and timeless villages that capture the spirit of the north. Visitors are drawn here not only by the scenery but also by the cultural traditions woven into the land — from ancient stone circles and clan histories to whisky distilleries and outdoor pursuits. The area around Kinloch Rannoch is especially atmospheric, with its lochside setting and landscapes used to portray the fictional Craigh na Dun in Outlander. The standing stones were created for filming and are not present at the location.
