Set in the heart of Moray Speyside, Elgin is a vibrant Highland town that combines historic charm with modern comforts. Once a medieval royal burgh, its past is still visible in landmarks like the impressive ruins of Elgin Cathedral, known as the “Lantern of the North.” The town centre offers a blend of independent shops, whisky bars, and traditional Scottish hospitality, while nearby attractions showcase the area’s heritage in textiles and craftsmanship. Golfers will find Elgin Golf Club, a challenging heathland course with panoramic views, while a short drive brings access to world-class links such as Moray Golf Club in Lossiemouth. Day 6–7:
Inverness
Known as the “Capital of the Highlands,” Inverness blends Highland history with the comforts of a modern city. Its location at the mouth of the River Ness has made it a gateway to the north for centuries, and today it remains the cultural and commercial hub of the region. The compact city centre is easy to explore, with a riverside promenade, Victorian market, and a growing reputation for fine dining. Overlooking it all is Inverness Castle. The area around Inverness carries some of Scotland’s most powerful historical and cultural landmarks. Just outside the city lies Culloden Battlefield, where the Jacobite Rising of 1745 met its tragic end — a site that resonates with both Outlander fans and anyone moved by Scotland’s history.
